📈 School Performance Reports Now Available

  • The 2023–2024 New Jersey School Performance Reports have been released and provide valuable insights into each school’s academic and demographic data.

Sheltered English Instruction (SEI) Training

Somerville Schools is excited to share that ninety of our K–12 teachers have been participating in a 15-hour Sheltered English Instruction (SEI) training. This professional development is focused on an instructional approach designed to make academic content more accessible to Multilingual Learners (MLs) while also supporting their ongoing English language development. Throughout the training, expert consultants from LLAMAME, LLC. have actively collaborated with our educators, facilitating discussions and hands-on practice with strategies that support not only Multilingual Learners, but all students in our classrooms.

SHS Robotics Team Awards

We are immensely proud to celebrate the tremendous accomplishments of our high school robotics team, who brought home not one but two prestigious awards this season: the Imagery Award and the highly coveted Engineering Inspiration Award. This recognition is a testament to the team’s relentless drive to foster a culture of innovation, inclusion, and engineering excellence not only within our school but across the broader community. Their year-round dedication includes hosting an empowering Girl Scout Robotics Program, playing a pivotal role in RoboCon NJ, continuously improving their homegrown scouting app, Scoutradioz, and mentoring the middle school FIRST LEGO League team at SMS. Their commitment to service and technical leadership was powerfully demonstrated at a recent competition, where they generously donated time, expertise, and even a $200 hardware component to help a struggling team get back in the game. As one grateful parent from Haddon Heights wrote, “Their willingness to jump in and help us out was remarkable. You have a great group of students and mentors and should be proud of how they represent your district.” We couldn’t agree more. As they head to Lehigh for the District Championships, we are cheering them on every step of the way. They truly embody the spirit and mission of FIRST—to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators.
