iReady Diagnostic Testing

Dear Van Derveer Families,

At the beginning of the school year, VDV students took the i-Ready diagnostic assessments in both Mathematics and Reading. The mathematics and reading mid-year assessments will take place the week of January 6th and the week of January 13th. Students will also take an end-of-year i-Ready diagnostic to monitor their progress. Your child’s diagnostic reports will be sent home after testing is complete.  In order to be prepared for the assessments, students should have headphones at school to use and their Chromebooks fully charged daily.

Please ensure your child gets a good night's sleep, arrives at school on time, and eats a healthy breakfast to be well prepared and do their best on the diagnostic

Below is the assessment schedule, information about the program, and instructions on how we will use it in the classroom.

January 6-10, 2025 Grades 1-5, Math i-Ready Diagnostic #2

January 13-17, 2025, Grades *K-5, Reading i-Ready Diagnostic #2

*Kindergarten takes i-Ready Reading Diagnostic Only

FAQ

What is i-Ready?

i-Ready is an on-line program with a diagnostic component and an instructional component.  The diagnostic component helps us determine your child’s strengths and areas for growth.  This information is used to construct a personalized learning path for your child.  Students will spend time completing their individualized lesson path in Mathematics and English Language Arts classes.

What is the i-Ready diagnostic?

The i-Ready diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your child’s needs.  Each item a student received is based on their answer to the previous question.  For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier ones.

What if my student is performing below grade level?

Information about your child’s learning can help you, your student, and their teachers have the conversations and implement the strategies to accelerate your child’s learning.  i-Ready diagnostic data is just one tool that we use to understand your student’s unique needs and progress.

Your child can engage in i-Ready reading and math lessons at home, and this is a good way to learn new skills and practice skills already learned.

Can I access more resources?

Yes. You can also learn more about i-Ready by visiting i-ReadyCentral.com/FamilyCenter.

You can also reach out to your child’’s teacher.

We appreciate your continued support and for being instrumental in your student’s learning.

Sincerely, Ms. Frevert
