Welcome Back

From the Superintendent JR Lubisco

Dear Somerville Family,

Here is what’s happening:

📅 What a Start!

The first few weeks of school have been nothing short of amazing! Our classrooms are filled with energy, and the excitement from both students and staff is contagious. From getting back into routines to seeing familiar faces, it's clear we're off to a fantastic start. Huge thanks to our teachers, staff, and families for making the opening weeks such a success!

👋 Back-to-School Nights Recap

The first two Back-to-School Nights were a huge hit! It was wonderful to meet so many of you at Van Derveer Elementary and Somerville Middle School. The turnout was fantastic, and the conversations were meaningful. Thank you to all who attended! I’ll continue to get out in the community to meet more of you and ensure we stay connected throughout the year. Next up is Somerville High School on 📅 Thursday, September 26th

  • Assessing the past, evaluating the present, and planning for the future

  • Gathering insights through interviews, document reviews, and engagement

  • Ensuring a thoughtful, transparent transition through active stakeholder involvement

Securly Home

Technology, the internet, and social media have become a big part of all of our lives. Modern technology has brought with it great advances and unforeseen challenges. Among the most demanding of these challenges is the need to ensure our children know how to use the internet in a healthy and productive way.

The Somerville School District has partnered with Securly to filter and manage students’ Internet use.  This filter is applied to all Somerville owned student devices used both in school and at home.   Learn more here: https://www.somervilleschools.org/page/securly-home
